Eurasian Watermilfoil (Milfoil)

Scientific name: Myriophyllum spicatum L.

Eurasian watermilfoil was first discovered at Newman Lake in September of 2002 in a small area at the southeast end of Newman Lake near the outlet gate. Eurasian watermilfoil is a non-native highly invasive aquatic weed listed on the state noxious weed list. Beginning in 2003 the Newman Lake Flood Control Zone District (NLFCZD) began implementing control efforts with the assistance of an Early Infestation Grant from Washington State Department of Ecology.
